The short version
We read the curricula and pricing docs, check student outcomes instead of testimonials, and compare the free alternatives honestly. Every guide gets an editorial review for clarity, sourcing, and consistency before it goes live.
What we do for every platform we cover
- Read the curriculum and pricing. What you actually learn, what it costs, and what the refund policy says when it does not work out.
- Check student outcomes. Completion rates and real skill gains from student reports, not the testimonials on the sales page.
- Price the free alternative. Sometimes the free option wins, and we say so when it does.
- Compare real alternatives. Every guide answers "why this instead of X" for your specific goal.
- Revisit on change. Catalogs and prices shift constantly in online learning. We update and date every guide.
What we do not do
- We do not take paid placements. Rankings cannot be bought.
- We do not pretend. Our assessments are research-based, and we say so.
- We do not hype credentials. A certificate is only as good as what employers think of it.
Our scoring rubric
When we score products, we weight four factors:
- Value: 30%. What you get for the price, including free tiers and long-term costs.
- Features: 30%. How complete the feature set is for the job.
- Owner feedback: 25%. Patterns from long-term user reports, not single anecdotes.
- Support and warranty: 15%. Help quality, guarantees, and company track record.
Ratings are editorial judgments based on research, not lab-test measurements.
